Communication

Communication advances ??

With the advances in communication and so many messengers available-Msn,Google,yahoo, the need for unifying platforms have arisen-Nimbuzz,orion etc., But have these really bridged the gap or built a gap? I have a friend who keeps excusing himself- Oh i was trying to reach you all day!!
Me-I was on messenger the whole day
Him- Oh! I was on google.

Me- I slept with my Mobile next to my pillow.
Him- OOps! i had forgotten my mobile in the car/My Mob was out of charge(incidentally i never understood if he meant the green currency he uses to recharge or the Battery)

Him- I kept calling you-could not get through!
Me- Surprising I have a call logger.
Him- Give me your number Let me check if it is the same.
Me- We spoke last month- The number has not changed.

Anyhow I truly beleive if there is a will to bond- avenues will open by itself. But modern man prefers to correspond through emails and chats than talk in person. Under such circumstances the following story touched my heart.

This is a true story that happened in Japan. In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan tears open the wall.Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck therebecause a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, itwas nailed 10 years ago when the house was first built. What happened? The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years! In a dark wallpartition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind boggling. Then he wondered how this lizard could have survived for 10 years withoutmoving a single step--since its foot was nailed! So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, andwhat and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth.Ahh! He was stunned and deeply touched. For the lizard that was stuck bynail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years...Such love, such beautiful love! Such love happened even with these tinycreatures ... What can love do? It can do wonders! Love can performmiracles!Imagine! it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, withoutgiving up hope on its partner.Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with abrilliant mind can't.I was touched when I heard this story and started wondering aboutrelationships between family members, friends, spouses, brothers, sisters. As information and communication technology advances, our access toinformation becomes faster and faster. But the distance between human beings. . . is it getting closer as well?
